FAQs

What do big people do at an 'It's in the bag!' party?

In our experience, parents of 5 -7 year olds and sometimes 4 year olds will be happy to drop their little ones off at a party - this is absolutely fine as long as there are always at least two responsible adults with the group at all times. Any parents who do stay (for younger age groups this is essential) will be invited to enjoy the show with their little people.

Do you have a preferred venue?

Most local halls suit us just fine, here are some Edinburgh venues that have hosted an 'It's in the bag!' show.

Do you charge extra for travel within Edinburgh?

All travel within 30 minutes of the business postcode at EH14 6AN is inclusive.

Can I have the party at home?

Having the party at home is totally fine, however we do need a cleared (of toys and furniture) space of about 20ft by 20ft if you are having about 20 children, smaller numbers and a slightly smaller space is fine. It also means that the craft may not be an option, as you would need seating for the number of children attending.

In reality a party at home is more suited to lower numbers of around 12, as bigger numbers of small people really benefit from having a larger space to run about in.

Do you travel to out of town locations?

We will consider every request for a booking, however I'm afraid we have to charge quite a lot extra for sending two storytellers to out of town locations, please enquire prior to booking.

Do you have a maximum number?

Yes for birthday parties, our maximum number for 0-2 yr olds is 20 and for 3-7 yr olds is 30. These numbers may be negotiable but require discussion with 'It's in the bag!' prior to booking.

In schools and nurseries we have a lot more flexibility for working with larger groups - please discuss with 'It's in the bag!'.

Our shows have catered for numbers of 100 plus, again please discuss with 'It's in the bag!'.

Do you have a minimum number?

No. We have told our stories to a group of 4 in a front room, 8 children in a marquee and 25 in a village hall and had such a lovely time with all.

What age of children are included in your numbers?

Children of all ages will enjoy an 'It's in the bag!' show and therefore all children (apart from the very small - under 6 months) will be included in the party numbers.

Do you have insurance?

Yes we have Public Liability Insurance provided through the Towergate Insurance Group.

What about disclosure?

All our storytellers are disclosed under the PVG scheme Scotland.
